The What, Why and How...

My name is Nicci and Milo is my Fox Red Labrador. Hello there and thank you for reading our blog.

I started writing this blog in May 2015 and to be honest I didn't quite know what a blog was then, in fact I'm still not that savvy on it now. I've always written a diary, normally when I was feeling sad or fed up.  As I was never very good at talking to people about my feelings, I just used to write them down instead. Pretty dismal reading actually!

So when my life changed last year I started to write it all down, and, as it wasn't so dismal, I decided to put it out there in a blog. Having now read lots of other various blogs, mainly travel, I'm still unsure if mine is a 'blog' or in fact just my diary. I'm not really promoting anything or giving any advice or tips like other blogs. I'm just generally chit chatting about what's occurring in my life, good and bad. I do tend to forget I'm hitting the 'publish' key at the end and I have no idea who is reading it but that makes it more interesting for me. I'm not sure if I'll ever have any regrets on sharing my diary, I'll just have to wait and see.

"In the end we only regret the chances we didn't take"

The story so far...

Last May my job contract working in a bank ended. I actually hated my job and was secretly relieved, but had no idea what to do next. My son was all grown up and had set up home with his girlfriend. My sister Pip, who through illness had previously needed my support, was now in a loving relationship. So now there was just  Milo and me, because,  as usual I was 'single'. And that's when I realised I could actually do whatever I wanted if I put my mind to it. There were two things I desired. One was to be in a loving relationship and the other was to be a bit of a free spirit. So I decided to combine them both. I sold everything I owned, ended the lease on my rented house and bought a motorhome. Then I set off in search of love, with an amazing adventure on the way. There have been various ups and downs along the way and I've tried to write about them all (some held back from publication!)
I came close to my happy ending in Scotland but alas not. So now after spending the winter working hard I've saved up enough to try again, this time travelling the coast of Ireland.

I love writing my diary/blog and I hope people enjoy reading it. I know I'm not writing about far off exotic destinations or crazy out of this world expeditions. More like trying to find a large enough parking space and what to cook for my tea! But it's real life and I'm loving living it.

Please feel free to share my story or follow me on Twitter for updates @nicci66nicci

  1. Hi Nicci,
heard your interview on radio! Ha, I'm sure lots of people will look you up as I did.
Well, I'm also single, but intend to stay that way, but I also have a (ancient) camper van and dogs and travel a lot on my own. I live in Sligo and when you come that way it would be fun to meet up. At least our dogs could have fun together on one of our beaches. I am sure you'll have an amazing time, do plan to go to Lisdoonvarna, Co Clare, I'm sure you heard of it, it's famous for matchmaking, lol!
You are not on facebook? I don'tdo Twitter.I intend to follow your blog, though
